The denominator is the product
62 out of 1,325 is 4.7 percent. That ratio is on the first page of the report, in the same size as the winners, because a winners list without its denominator is advertising.
The 1,263 that did not clear 50,000 are the reason this file is worth reading carefully rather than enthusiastically.
Why pitch lists mislead
Every roundup of fast growing products shows you what worked and never shows you how many identical attempts did not. You read the pitches, you notice a pattern, and the pattern is survivorship.
This file shows both sides. The winners by name, and the count of everyone of the same age who did not get there.
What you get
- data.csv, all 62 rows in 20 columns, ordered by revenue divided by months of age.
- report.html, the selection conditions, the denominator, the twenty fastest in a table with their pitch, and a written survivorship warning.
- README.txt, every column defined, and the limits written out.
What this cannot tell you
Companies that tried the same idea and failed are not in the source at all. Nothing here can tell you the base rate of an idea, only the revenue of the ones that lived and listed.
Declared age is self reported and unverified. Revenue is not, it comes from a connected provider.
